Student Literacy Council
The Student Literacy Council (SLC) is comprised of the Book Club, the Library Club and the Battle of the Books.
Members may belong to one or the other, both, or all three.
The SLC exists to promote literacy throughout our school. With this in mind, we work together to compile a “wish list” of tasks and/or goals each year. Below are some of the ideas our members have brainstormed.
¨ Help with Library displays and
display case
¨ Create classroom sets of books for SSR and Study Hall
¨ Maintain Read & Return carts
¨ Conduct a student survey on reading at BWHS
¨ Organize a Book Fair and/or Book Exchange
¨ Book Talks in study hall
¨ Root of the Week
¨ Teen Read Week school-wide activities
¨ Read to our “baby” Falcons in Day Care
